Flector Patch (diclofenac epolamine) 1.3% is a topical NSAID designed for localized treatment of acute musculoskeletal pain. The topical system measures approximately 10 × 14 cm and contains 180 mg of diclofenac epolamine. It is applied directly to the most painful area to provide topical treatment of acute pain associated with minor strains, sprains, and contusions.

The current prescribing information recommends one topical system applied to the most painful area twice daily, using the lowest effective dosage for the shortest duration consistent with the patient’s treatment goals. Flector should only be applied to intact skin and should not be placed over wounds, burns, eczema, infected areas, or other damaged skin.

Flector is classified as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Unlike oral diclofenac tablets, Flector is administered topically as a medicated patch/system for localized acute pain.

Important Safety Information

Flector contains an NSAID and carries important cardiovascular and gastrointestinal warnings. NSAIDs may increase the risk of serious cardiovascular thrombotic events, including heart attack and stroke, and may increase the risk of serious gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration, and perforation.

Flector is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to diclofenac, patients who have experienced asthma, urticaria, or allergic-type reactions after aspirin or other NSAIDs, and in the perioperative setting of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.

Do not apply Flector to damaged or non-intact skin. The product labeling also instructs patients not to wear the topical system while bathing or showering, to wash their hands after applying, handling, or removing it, and to avoid eye contact.
